AI Policy

Where we use AI, and where we do not

AI runs behind a specific set of features, and only when you choose to use them:

• Editing feedback reads your manuscript and returns developmental, line, and copy suggestions, each tied to the passage it refers to. You accept, edit, or dismiss every one. Nothing is changed in your book without your action.
• Market analysis returns comparable titles, categories, and keyword ideas drawn from the model's general knowledge of published books.
• Author bio and publishing guidance generate draft text you review before using.
• Cover generation produces the artwork from a short prompt built out of your book's details. The title and author text on the cover are drawn by us as real type, not by the image model, so the wording is always spelled correctly.

Your writing itself is never generated for you. Pressborn does not write your book. It gives you feedback on the book you wrote and helps you prepare and publish it.

Which AI providers we use

We do not train or run our own models. The AI features send the text or prompt they need to established providers, which return the result:

• Anthropic (Claude) processes text for editing feedback, market analysis, publishing guidance, and bio generation. This can include your full manuscript when the feature needs it.
• Replicate generates cover artwork from a text prompt built from your book's details, not from your full manuscript.

We send a provider only what the feature needs, only when you use that feature. Their handling of that data is governed by their own API terms. This is described in full in our Privacy Policy.

We never train AI on your work

We do not use your manuscript to train AI models, we do not sell or rent your work to anyone, and we do not send your work to anyone for any purpose other than delivering the feature you asked for. Your manuscript is yours. Using Pressborn does not put it into a training set.

You own what the AI helps you make

You keep every right to the work you upload, and we claim no ownership of it and no share of what you earn from it. Content our tools generate for you, such as covers, suggested edits, and bios, is yours to use in your book. We claim no ownership of that either. This mirrors the Terms of Service.

AI is a helper, not a professional

AI output can be wrong, and it can miss things. It is a helper, not a professional editor, designer, or lawyer. Review everything before you accept it into your manuscript or publish it. You are responsible for the final content of your book.

One place this matters specifically: our market analysis reflects the model's general knowledge of published books, not live sales data from any retailer. Figures such as sales rank, review counts, and precise pricing are not shown, because we cannot verify them. Treat the analysis as informed suggestion, not measured fact.

Disclosing AI-assisted content to retailers

Some retailers, including Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, ask at publishing time whether your book contains AI-generated content, and they draw a line between AI-generated material and AI-assisted editing of your own writing. You are responsible for answering these questions accurately for your book.

As a general guide, and not legal advice: text that you wrote and then revised using our feedback is usually treated as AI-assisted rather than AI-generated, while a cover image produced by the image model is AI-generated content that a retailer may require you to disclose. Policies differ between retailers and change over time, so check the content guidelines of each store you publish to and answer for your own book.

A note on AI cover art

You are free to use a cover generated on Pressborn as the cover of your book. Be aware that the law on copyright in AI-generated images is still developing, and in some places you may not be able to register a copyright claim in the image itself. If that matters for your book, a commissioned or hand-made cover may suit you better. Either way, disclose AI-generated art wherever a retailer asks you to.

You are always in control

Every AI action on Pressborn is one you start. Nothing analyzes, generates, or publishes on its own. You choose when to run a feature, you see the cost before you confirm it, and you decide what to keep. Your book goes on sale only when you submit it to a retailer yourself.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Pressborn uses AI in a way that matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and note the change.
