How it works
From a finished draft to files a store will accept
Pressborn does the two jobs that sit between a finished manuscript and a published book: it tells you what is wrong with the writing, and it builds the exact files each store asks for. You stay the publisher throughout. You upload the book to your own retailer account, and the store pays you directly.
Upload your manuscript
Send us a .docx, .pdf, .txt or .epub. Pressborn reads it into chapters and paragraphs, so every note it gives you later can point at one specific sentence rather than at a page number you have to go hunting for.
Get three editing passes, not one opinion
Three separate reads run over the whole book, because they are genuinely different jobs and a single pass does all three badly:
- Developmental. Structure and story. Pacing, stakes, whether a subplot goes anywhere, whether the middle sags.
- Line. Sentence by sentence. Rhythm, repetition, filter words, dialogue that does not sound like speech.
- Copy. Grammar, spelling, punctuation and consistency.
The passes run over the book as a whole rather than chapter by chapter, so a character who changes name in chapter nine is something they can actually catch.
Work the notes in your own text
Every note is anchored to the exact words it is about, and it arrives with the replacement prose already written. Accept it and the sentence changes. Edit it first if the suggestion is close but not right. Dismiss it and it stays dismissed the next time you run the analysis.
Nothing is applied to your manuscript without you clicking it. When you are done with a round of revisions you commit them as a version, and the previous one stays readable.
Get a cover
Describe the book and Pressborn generates cover art, then sets your title and author name over it as real type. The image model never renders the words, which is why the title on your cover is spelled the way you typed it. Print covers are laid out to the finished page size and page count of your actual book, so the spine is the right width for how thick your book really is.
Worth knowing before you start: covers are generated here, and there is no way to upload artwork you already had made. If you have a cover you love, everything else on this page still works for you.
Build a package per store
Pick your stores and answer each one's questions once. Pressborn checks your answers against what that store actually requires, then builds a download containing the interior file, the cover at the right dimensions, and the metadata written out in the form the store's upload page asks for.
Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Draft2Digital, Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play Books.
You publish it
The last step is yours, deliberately. You upload the package to your own account at the store, under your own name, and Pressborn walks you through where each file goes. Your book stays your book: we are not your publisher, we do not appear in your listing, and we take no share of what the store pays you.
