Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 25, 2026
This policy explains what information Pressborn, operated by Carter AI Group LLC, collects when you use pressborn.com, why we collect it, and who else touches it. We have tried to write it the way we would explain it to a friend.
The short version: we collect what we need to run the service for you, we share it only with the providers who help us run it, and we do not sell it, show ads with it, or track you around the web.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address, your name if you give one, and your password. We never store your password itself, only a one-way hash of it (bcrypt, 12 rounds), which lets us check your password without being able to read it.
Your work. The manuscripts you upload, the edits and versions you create, and the content our tools generate for you, such as covers, analysis reports, and publishing packages. Manuscript files are stored with Backblaze, our cloud storage provider, and your text and account data live in our database hosted by Render in the United States (Oregon).
Payment records. When you buy credits, we keep a record of the purchase: which pack, when, and the Stripe identifiers for it. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never passes through our servers.
Technical information. Like nearly every website, our servers log requests, including your IP address. We also use your IP address to rate limit logins and signups, which protects your account from password guessing and protects the service from abuse.
What we do not collect
We use no advertising, no analytics trackers, and no social media pixels. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not use your manuscript to train AI models.
How AI features use your work
Several features send text to outside AI providers to do their job:
- Editing feedback, market analysis, publishing guidance, and bio generation send the relevant text, which can include your full manuscript, to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns the analysis.
- Cover generation sends a text prompt built from your book's details, not your full manuscript, to Replicate to produce the artwork.
We send these providers only what the feature needs, only when you use the feature. Their handling of that data is governed by their own API terms. We do not use your work to train models, and we do not send your work to anyone for any purpose other than delivering the feature you asked for.
Who we share information with
Only the companies that help us run the service, and only what each one needs:
- Render hosts our application and database (United States).
- Backblaze stores your uploaded and generated files (United States).
- Anthropic processes text for the AI features described above.
- Replicate generates cover artwork from prompts.
- Stripe processes payments and receives your email and name to create your payment record.
- Resend delivers our emails to you.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces, which means your browser requests font files from Google when you load a page.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
We use two cookies, both needed for the site to work:
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. It lasts 3 days, or 7 days if you choose "remember me". It is HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax, which are protections against common attacks.
- A security token cookie (XSRF-TOKEN) that protects forms from cross-site request forgery.
There are no tracking or advertising cookies. If you start a credit purchase, your browser also briefly keeps a local note of that checkout so we can tell you honestly whether the payment went through; it expires within a day.
We send the emails needed to run your account: verification when you sign up, password resets, purchase receipts, and notices about work you have in progress, such as a finished analysis. We do not send marketing email. If you want to receive less email, write to support@pressborn.com.
How long we keep things, and deleting them
Your manuscripts stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting a manuscript removes it from our database and deletes its stored files, including versions and generated covers. To delete your whole account, email support@pressborn.com and we will remove it along with your data. Copies of deleted data can remain in routine backups for a limited time before those age out. We keep payment records as long as accounting rules require.
How we protect your information
All traffic to the site is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, sessions use hardened cookies, and sign-in attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your manuscript the way we would want ours treated.
Children
Pressborn is for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. You must be at least 18 years old to use Pressborn, as our Terms of Service explain.
Your rights
Your information belongs to you. At any time you can:
- Ask to see the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
- Have your account and its data deleted.
For any of these, email support@pressborn.com and we will act on it. Deleting a manuscript does not need an email: you can delete your manuscripts yourself in the product at any time, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and note the change.
